Successful Planning

Today's Beautiful Thing is throwing a succuessful party. We don't do it very often any more--and hope to change that--but our small BBQ for 12 was a success. Yeah!

Bonus Beautiful Thing: the house is clean and we tossed out some clutter too.

Thoughtfulness

Today's Beautiful Thing is a thoughtful friend. J took a trip last week and brought all the girls at the office back a couple of cute little gifties. I wasted no time in putting them out. As I looked at them today, they really made me smile. Thanks J!

Synchronicity

Today's Beautiful Thing is synchronicity. I have two friends, who have mutual friends besides me, but don't know each other. Both of them wanted to attend a conference (that I'm also attending) and asked if I needed a roommate. I already have a roommate--three in fact!--but I was able to hook the two of them up, and now they are rooming together. How cool is that?!

One More Day!

Today's Beautiful Thing is sharing another day off with the hubby. He likes to take an extra day off every time he gets a 3 day weekend, which I don't usually do. I'm glad I did it this time. We've had a nice (extra-long!) weekend together. Hugs honey! I'll share my spaghetti and meatballs with you any day!

Renting Movies

Today's Beautiful Thing is the simple act of renting a movie. Since we've rented movies for the last three nights, Memorial Day Weekend has turned into movie weekend! We've seen Mad Money, The Great Debaters & Resurrecting the Champ--all of which come highly recommended by the hubby and me. Enjoy!

Holiday Weekend

Today's Beautiful Thing is hanging with the hubby on a chilly holiday weekend. We went to the annual Strawberry Festival, ate BBQ'd corn and people-watched and just had a really nice time.

Fresh Fish

Today's Beautiful Thing is fish and chips on the pier with my hubby. We had a great day!

Rainy Night

Today's Beautiful Thing is rain falling at night. I love the sound of the raindrops on the roof when we are snuggled up inside, safe and warm.

My Husband

Today's Beautiful Thing is my husband. He was interviewed by a news show this afternoon and they told him he'd be on the 6:00 and 11:00 news tonight. He wasn't on the 6, so we're crossing our fingers for the 11. It's kind of exciting and I hope it works out. He'd be really pleased and his happiness is a Beautiful thing to me.

(Update: He wasn't on at 11 either, but we're going to call and see if we can purchase a tape.)

Good News!

Today's Beautiful Thing is M's good news. She's keeping it to herself right now (so I won't share it) but I'm so proud & pleased for her and I hope it'll all work out the way we want it to. :)

Sweet Treat

Today's Beautiful Thing is an icecream cone. I made myself a small mixed scoop of Dryer's Grand Light Peppermint and Cookies & Cream. The chocolate and peppermint combo is great. I like eating it on a cone because it takes longer. :)

Gyros!

Today's Beautiful Thing is the best Gyro in town! The local Greek Orthodox church held its annual festival this weekend and we ate gyros for lunch both Saturday and Sunday! Yummm....

My Namesake

Today's Beautiful Thing is a fun coffee house pointed out to me by my friend V. Someday, I'll go visit and share a cup of coffee and a pastry with her. :)

Today's Beautiful Thing is completing a task. I was late, but it was the first time doing it without my supervisor who left us last week. Thanks to the temp, K, who helped me. Yay!

Grey's Anatomy

Today's Beautiful Thing is watching a brand-spanking-new epesode of Grey's Anatomy! Thursday at 9 PM is reserved for Merideth, Christina, Derek, Izzy, George and the gang. :)

Today's Beautiful Thing is John Edwards. I'm really jazzed that my first choice for president has finally decided to come out and endorse my second choice for president! Don't get me wrong, Obama is great, but us (former) Edwards supporters still mourn the loss of his campaign. Attorney General Edwards sounds pretty good, as does Vice President Edwards. We'll see.

Today's Beautiful Thing is Etsy. A friend and I were browsing the site this afternoon and we found the coolest stuff. Whatever you like, someone on Etsy makes it and is selling it for a good price. Check it out!

Trader Joe's

Today's Beautiful Thing is Trader Joe's. I needed a couple of items after work, and I was able to get in and out of this great little store in record time. They have the best products and their service can't be beat!

Mom

Today's Beautiful Thing is my mom! I am so grateful to be her daughter, not just on Mother's Day, but every day. I love you, mom!

Today's Beautiful Thing is my monthly writer's meeting. I always look forward to the second Saturday of the month, knowing i will be both informed and inspired.

He's Home!

Today's Beautiful Thing is the hubby coming home. He was away on a business trip for three days and I was home alone for the first time in our 15 year marriage. Being an only child, I've always apreciated alone time, but I'm glad he's home because I missed him very much!

Alone Time

Today's Beautiful Thing is a quiet night to myself, eating some very good leftover pizza and watching a new episode of Grey's Anatomy. :)

Picking up the Pieces

Today's Beautiful Thing is handling a bad situation the best I could. Both the laptop and PC I was using at work shut down this afternoon, causing me to lose a lot of data I'd spent the morning entering. After I had a mini nervous breakdown (and ate a piece of carrot cake!) I spent the rest of the day re-entering the data. I'm behind now, but at least I was able to get it done before I left work.

Just the Two of Us

Today's Beautiful Thing is spending time with the hubby. We didn't do anything exciting, but we still had a great day because we spent it together.

Costco

Today's beautiful Thing is Costco. Really! We finally broke down and purchased a membership to this warehouse store. It was really fun to wander around, save money and eat (cheap!) pizza for lunch.

Vaya Con Dios

Today's Beautiful Thing is S. We celebrated her last day and T's birthday, with lunch, cake and presents--and we did the same thing Wed too! It was really hard to let her go, but I wish her the very best in her new job. Vaya con Dios, S.

A good joke

Today's Beautiful Thing is a silly forward a coworker sent me. It was a very stupid joke, but it made me laugh out loud when I read it. I sent it on to another coworker who quickly replied that the stupid joke had made her day.
