Teamwork

Today's Beautiful Thing is having someone to share the load. We've got a ton of stuff to do to get the house ready for company next weekend, but we're doing it together. I'm very lucky.

Freedom

Today's Beautiful Thing is the freedom to do whatever I want on my day off. We took the road less traveled, but it turned out to be the perfect road for us. I love my CF life. :)

Getting My Irish Up

Today's Beautiful Thing is allowing myself to get mad. I'm one of those people who is slow to anger, but when I finally get there, look out! The only problem is, I don't really know what to do with it. Tonight a wrote a constructive letter. I feel much better. Should have known that writing was the cure. It always is. :)

Pumped

Today's Beautiful Thing is that pumped up, thumpy feeling I get in my legs when we get home from a brisk walk. I feel the blood circulating through my body. It's invigorating!

Grrrl Power!

Today's Beautiful Thing is the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court! It's time to even up the score on many counts. Barack Obama's getting things done. Woo hoo!
Bonus Beautiful Thing: Ms. Sotomayor's lovely tribute to her mother. It brought tears to my eyes.

Sloth

Today's Beautiful Thing is complete and total laziness! I got up late, had a bubblebath, and the hubby and I watched a movie with a mug of hot tea--and a handful of Fresh & Easy's mini iced oatmeal cookies. Why can't every Monday be like this? :)

It's the Berries!

Today's Beautiful Thing is the annual Strawberry Festival. It's always fun to run into old friends, peoplewatch, listen to good music under a shady tree, and eat fresh strawberry short cake sundaes...of course! We spent a lovely, lazy afternoon.

Spontineity

Today's Beautiful Thing is deciding to go to a movie on a whim. I love the spontaneity of my life. :)

Three Day Weekend

Today's Beautiful Thing is possibilities. Anything is possible on a three day weekend where I finally am caught up enough not to have to work overtime. Three. Days. Off. All in a row. All spent with the love of my life and my pupsters. Life is good.

Playing Catch-Up

Today's Beautiful Thing is not being too far behind at work. After taking 2 1/2 days off--and no overtime last week to boot--I expected it to be much worse than it was this morning. Yippee!

Neighborhood Nature

Today's Beautiful Thing is little animals living on our property. We've watched a group of lizzards grow larger and larger. Today I saw one that was fat with a long tail. We also have a pretty little dove making a nest on top of our ladder. I look at her from time to time but she doesn't seem frightened of me.

Cute Pups

Today's Beautiful Thing is my adorable pups. I missed them while we were away. They missed us too. They were so happy on the ride home. :)

Proof

Today's Beautiful Thing is remembering to take a picture of the hubby and I from our trip. My mom always says there's no proof I was there because I'm always behind the camera. :) This time I have proof, Mom. Look!

Wandering

Today's Beautiful Thing is spending the day wandering a long the beach. I saw the cutest group of squirrels playing on the rocks and I had to take their picture. :)

We Have Arrived

Today's Beautiful Thing is checking into a pretty hotel for a couple of days. And it's free to boot. That's a great bonus. :)

Safe

Today's Beautiful Thing is having a safe place to leave the dogs when we go on our trip tomorrow. We're taking them to our wonderful vet. Thank you Dr. C!

Today's Beautiful Thing is truly Beautiful roses for a bargain price. I bought a dozen long-stemmed roses for my mother in law this afternoon. I thought they were $9.99--a great deal. Turns out they were $5.99 because I bought two cards and they gave me $4.00 off for that. Woo hoo!

The Weekend

Today's Beautiful Thing is the weekend ahead. I am not working any overtime the next few days and am looking forward to resting tomorrow and spending Sunday with my mommy. Here's to good plans. :)

Health Insurance

Today's Beautiful Thing is Health Insurance. Many people don't have it and we are fortunate. I thought I had the flu, turns out my allergies were in overdrive. If I hadn't went to the doctor today, I'd have just kept on taking cold medicine and wondering why my "cold" was hanging on so long.

Sick Day

Today's Beautiful Thing is taking care of myself. I've been resting and drinking a whole lotta juice and fluids all day long. Sometimes you just have to baby yourself.

A Night Out

Today's Beautiful Thing is a night out with my hubby. We saw D.L. Hughley at the Improv. He was fantastic!

Special Occasions & Visitors

Today's Beautiful Thing is May Day. At work we had all kids of stuff going on. We had a birthday (and cake), someone getting the keys to her new loft apartment (an interior design discussion ensued) & baby visitors (a 3 week old in a tutu and an 8 month old in footie pj's). A good day all in all. Almost like being on vacation. Almost.
