Today's Beautiful Thing is Halloween. It's fun to decorate the house and hang out by the door and pass out candy. I remember how much fun Halloween was when I was a kid and I like to try to make it fun for the neighborhood kids too. :)

Date Night

Today's Beautiful Thing is turning a late Friday afternoon appointment into a date. We love going to the pier and having dinner. Since we have to go there for an appointment, why not stay a little longer, avoid the Friday night traffic, and partake in some fresh, hot fish & chips? Mmm!

Time Management

Today's Beautiful Thing is being productive. I had a list of things I needed to get done today (both at work, and at home) and I did it! It felt so good. :)

Modern Family

Today's Beautiful Thing is a new sit-com, Modern Family on ABC. We love the fresh take on these three households (the father, his new wife & stepson, the gay son, his partner & adopted baby girl, and the daughter, her hubby and 3 kids) and how their stories all tie together in the end. Sometimes we laugh so hard, it hurts. And laughter is a very Beautiful thing indeed!

Getting Organized

Today's Beautiful Thing is organizing our WIP (work in progress). Michele and I filled out a spreadsheet listing each chapter and scene of our novel. Now we can see what happens and where the plot holes are. Yay!

Our Nephew

Today's Beautiful Thing is memories of last night. We went to see our nephew Ryan's first Ju Jitsu match. He's only been at it two or three months, so he didn't win, but he worked really hard and he loves it. We were thrilled to be able to go and support him. Hopefully, we'll go to many more of these events. :)

23 Years Ago

Today's Beautiful Thing is seeing old friends. A couple of girls I went to high school with found me on FaceBook last month and we had lunch today. How could it possibly be 23 years since I last saw them? A third girl (I didn't know very well in HS) joined us too. They looked great and we had fun. :)

All Better

Today's Beautiful Thing is fixing something you love and making it new again. We have a huge framed collage from our first trip to Spain. We took it down when we were painting and the glass broke. Today we picked it up from Michael's and it's good as new. Yay!

Mmmm Toasty!

Today's Beautifuk Thing is toast for dinner. Sometimes a nap and simple foood is all you need after a long work week. I had toasted flatbread and hummus and hubby had wheat toast and strawberry preserves. Perfect.

Today's Beautiful Thing is a collection of framed vintage posters that we hung up in our living room this weekend. Gives it a whole new look. :)

Ebay

Today's Beautiful Thing is ebay. I wanted to try something new, but it was really expensive for something I'd never tried before. What if it didn't work? I'm so glad I thought to check ebay! I got it for half price. Yeah!

Today's Beautiful Thing is taking it easy on a Friday night. The weekend couldn't have come any sooner, lemme tell ya!

1,000 Beautiful Things

Today's Beautiful Thing is my 1,000th post. I can't believe it has been 1,000 days since we lost Atticus, but I am so grateful that his Beautiful spirit inspired me to create this blog. Without him, I may have not noticed some or all of the many Beautiful things I have blogged about every single day since his passing. RIP Atticus. We'll always love you.

Today's Beautiful Thing is a 100 calorie Jello pudding cup topped with some non-fat Cool Whip Free. It's a low calorie, low fat treat that always satisfies!

Ready or Not

Today's Beautiful Thing is the ribs I've had marinating since yesterday. When I came home, I just had to pop them in the oven. It was easy-peasy to steam some red potatoes and broccoli crowns when they were almost done cooking. Mmmmmm!

Today's Beautiful Thing is lunch with my local writer group and Michele. Our group celebrated our 28th anniversary and Michele and I celebrated 341 pages. Yeah baby!

Tired- in a good way

Today's Beautiful Thing is being tired. Really! I got a lot of work done today and I'm not only physically tired, but mentally tired too. It feels good, though, because I really worked hard.

Today's Beautiful Thing is Cheddar Bay Biscuits from Red Lobster. We have some left over from our anniversary dinner on Sun to go with tonight's dinner. Yum!

A New Nephew

Today's Beautiful Thing is a new nephew. My sister-in-law found out she's going to have a boy. I was a little bummed at first, because I love my 1 and only niece so much and I already have 6 nephews, but I'm over it. With parents like his, he'll be just as big a joy as his sister is. Hopefully, we will be able to spend more time with him than we were able to spend with the other 2 (local) nephews when they were growing up. Can't wait to meet you, AJ.

17 Years

Today's Beautiful Thing is our 17th Anniversary. Time really does fly when you're having fun. I love you, hon.

Together

Today's Beautiful Thing is spending the day together. We took a trip to L.A. today and found an old Italian restaurant we loved. Lunch was the best! Then we went to ChinaTown and attended the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. We had the nicest day together.

Chinese Take Out

Today's Beautiful Thing is mushroom chicken and steamed rice from our favorite little Chinese take-out place. It's a family run business, where everyone teases you and makes you feel right at home. I love supporting businesses like that. :)
