Gimme a Break!

Today's Beautiful Thing is a quick lunch with a friend in the middle of a workday. I don't often leave the office, so it's a nice change of pace.

Home Sweet Home

Today's Beautiful Thing is Edra being released from the hospital this afternoon. I'm sure it will feel wonderful to sleep in her own bed tonight and have her children by her side.

Simple Request

Today's Beautiful Thing is a text from Edra requesting Cherry Garcia Icecream. We were very happy to fulfill her request. To think that last Sunday she was checking in the hospital and on this Sunday her surgery was a success and she wants icecream. Amazing!

Lovely

Today's Beautiful Thing is the simple act of being normal. Edra is feeling better enough to be irritated. To think just a few days ago she could only be scared. Life is good.

Tooday's Beautiful Thing is an invitation to dessert with dear friends. They happened to be in the area and gave us a call. What a nice surprise!

10/4/92 - 10/4/12

Today's Beautiful Thing is our 20 Year Anniversary. After 28 years together and 20 years of marriage, I can honestly say that there is no one I'd rather spend the rest of my life with. Happy Anniversary to us!

Light

Today's Beautiful Thing is the lightness I feel in my chest after the last 4 stressful days. Even though I missed two days of work and must get month-end work completed by Friday, I feel no stress. My sister-in-law has been given a new lease on life. Nothing is more important than that!

Miracles Do Happen!

Today's Beautiful Thing is witnessing a miracle. The doctors said my sister-in-law's surgery could have taken up to 30 hours over the course of 2 days. Instead, they completed the surgery in 3.5 hours without a hitch! Bonus Beautiful Thing: The doc said that the tumor they removed would have killed her if it hadn't come out when it did. There was no more room for it to grow. It was truly divine intervention that it was finally discovered after growing in her head for (the doctors estimate of) 20 years!

Today's Beautiful Thing the relief of knowing my sister-in-law is doing fine after a medical procedure. Bonus Beautiful Thing: the procedure will improve the chances for a successful surgery tomorrow.
