Today's Beautiful Thing is walking in a store with an idea, asking a clerk if she has anything that fits the bill, and having her put it in my hands! Five second shopping! Took me longer to park the car and walk to the store than it did to buy the gift. Woo Hoo!

Today's Beautiful Thing is Skype! Michele and I were finally able to make the web cams work using Skype. Yay! It was fun.

Today's Beautiful Thing is Senator Arlen Spector. He decided to leave the Republican Party (because, in his words, they have gone too far to the right) and join the Democratic Party. Woo hoo! Now if we could just get Al Frankin in, we'd have our 60. Not that it's an automatic 60 since Spector, like our Blue Dog Democrats (who often vote with the Republicans) won't be a rubber stamp Dem, but it's still cool.

Fun

Today's Beautiful Thing is my friend Kristina. Michele & I were trying to figure out how the web cams work (we couldn't see each other) and Kristina was simply delighted to be talking to me and hearing our dogs bark. She's so much fun. (Pictured: Kristina and her family on her last birthday.)

Today's beautiful Thing is a night out with friends. Abner & I saw Jamie Kennedy at the Improv with Michele and John. A good time was had by all. :)

Today's Beautiful Thing is the lightness I feel in my heart. Things are getting better in all aspects of my life and I am so grateful.

Me Time

Today's Beautiful Thing is 3 hours to myself. I had dinner, checked e-mail, played with the pups and wrote 4 and a half pages. Go me! (Pictured: my protagonist--well, an actress, but that's what my protagonist looks like.)

Smiling Fool

Today's Beautiful Thing is little Ace. It's been so hot and he looks like he's smiling when he pants. Such a cute little crooked-toothed Frenchie is Ace. Love him. :)

Shady

Today's Beautiful Thing is shade. It was really hot this afternoon and we went to a friend's BBQ. Luckily, they set up a huge canopy for us. It's much cooler in the shade. :)

Laziness

Today's Beautiful Thing is taking it easy. I still worked a half-day, but grocery shopping and laying around and watching videos was about all I was able to accomplish. Sometimes you just have to relax.

Lunch Date

Today's Beautiful Thing is meeting Mom for lunch. I always have fun with my mommy. She's the best! :)

So Far So Good

Today's Beautiful Thing is our new file clerk. She's doing a great job. I hope she likes working with us and she decides to stay. Cross your fingers. :)

Hard Work

Today's Beautiful Thing is a strong body. I spent the day in the basement again. Yesterday I labeled boxes, but today I lifted and moved them. It's nice to know that I can still handle physical work. In the bakery I did a lot of it, but that was more than 10 years ago.

Spring Cleaning

Today's Beautiful Thing is getting stuff done. At work we spent most of the day in the basement getting boxes ready to go to the storage facility. We're going to have so much room when we're done. Now if I could just do the same thing to the spare bedroom at home, life would be sweet! :)

Memory Lane

Today's Beautiful Thing is fried bologna sandwiches. My Grandma Sally used to make them for lunch when I was a kid and tonight I made them for dinner. I can still remember watching her make them, the way they sizzled and popped up--she'd call them Mexican hats. I miss her so much. Getting My Writer On

Today's Beautiful Thing is my local writing chapter. I haven't been to a meeting in 5 months, but I went this morning. I'm so glad I did. It's wonderful to talk to other fiction writers in person for a change.

Help is on the Way

Today's Beautiful Thing is having three qualified people to choose from for our file clerk position. Hopefully the woman we chose will start next week by Tuesday, but any day would suit me just fine. :)

Planning Ahead

Today's Beautiful Thing is doing my Easter grocery shopping early. I went to the store after work and got it all done. The shelves were stocked and the aisles clear. I'm making a dessert tray and a fruit salad and I'm jazzed that I won't be fighting the crowd this weekend.

The Grrls

Today's Beautiful Thing is workmates. There's just nothing like having someone in your department that you can vent to about the irritating things people in other departments do to make your job harder. I'm glad I have my Finance Grrls. :)

Dad

Today's Beautiful Thing is my dad. He had outpatient surgery this morning and was able to go home this afternoon. I am grateful.

Bonus Beautiful Thing: Today is my grandma's birthday. I miss her so much, but I know she was watching out for her son-in-law when he had surgery this morning. I love you, Grandma.

Spring

Today's Beautiful Thing is a cool breeze on a warm Spring afternoon. The weather was Beautiful all weekend. :)

Lemonade

Today's Beautiful Thing is making lemonade when life hands you lemons. Learning not to freak out when bad stuff happens is something the hubby & I are learning to do lately. It's a good positive change.

A Little Something

Today's Beautiful Thing is a McDonald's sundae. Sometimes you just want a little something sweet and a hot fudge, caramel or strawberry sundae always fits the bill. Yum!

Lunch with Friends

Today's Beautiful Thing is a girls' lunch. I took a break from the office to have lunch with two coworkers from another department and a former co-worker. It was nice to get away for a while (something I seldom do) and chat with some people I don't usually chat with.

Bonus Beautiful Thing: It was extra nice to see D looking healthy and happy. She's been able to make something good out of a bad situation and that's truly Beautiful indeed.

No Foolin'

Today's Beautiful Thing is a fun day for a birthday. My cousin Brett celebrated his 19th and my workmate I. had her baby girl this morning. Happy day to all.
