4 Years

Today's Beautiful Thing is the 4 year anniversay of Michele's surgery. 4 years of being cancer-free. 4 years of fighting like a girl. 4 years of friendship.

Togetherness

Today's Beautiful Thing is carpooling to a happy family event. I saw many of my cousins (and their cousins) who I don't get to see very often. It eas a fun day.

Shopping

Today's Beautiful Thing is shopping for my cousin's shower. She is adopting two little girls and I am so proud of her. What fun it was to buy them gifts.

Finally!

Today's Beautiful Thing is our new nephew A.J. He came home from the hospital after more than a week. We're so happy he's better now.

Lemony Goodness

Today's Beautiful Thing is Lemonade Girl Scout cookies. Yum-o-rama!

Olympics

Today's Beautiful Thing is the Winter Olympics. I've been enjoying all the Beautiful figure skaters- particularly the ice dancers this time. Davis & White are my new favorites. <3

Benefits

Today's Beautiful Thing is a job with benefits. I'm so blessed to have sick time, vacation time, and other perks. I stayed home sick today and slept all day--with pay.

Cushy

Today's Beautiful Thing is new pillows on the bed. We bought some with gel inside that contours to your head and neck. They feel so good. :)

Friends

Today's Beautiful Thing is seeing old friends and doing old things. Pictionary is an old favorite and we all enjoyed it tonight. :)

Family

Today's Beautiful Thing is my sister in law. It was good to visit her in the hospital and see that she was okay. The baby is still in the NICU so we can't see him, but we are told he will be well- just needs some special care.

TCB

Today's Beautiful Thing is Taking Care of Business. In the 70's, they used to say TCB, so it tickled me to type it now. Ha! We took my car in for servicing today and told them all kinds of things we want them to check while it's there. They give us a free loaner car and our warranty is fantastic, so they can keep it as long as they like. Abner's driving the loaner (I don't like sedans and he does) and I'm driving his car- which is the same model as mine. Win/win.

Welcome

Today's Beautiful Thing is a new nephew. Welcome to the world, AJ! We've been waiting for you - and so has your big sister!

One Week

Today's Beautiful Thing is one week down. I'm trying something new. We'll see how it goes. :)

Fun

Today's Beautiful Thing is having fun even when we're running errands. The stuff's gotta get done. You might as well enjoy yourself while you do it! I know how lucky I am, that's for sure.

Love, Love, Love

Today's Beautiful Thing is Valentine's Day. What could be better than a day to tell people we love how much we do? My honey and I had the best time at the theater and at the beach for dinner and a stroll. Lovely.

Crafty

Today's Beautiful Thing is doing crafts with friends. Michele and I went to Joanne's and bought two colors of fleece each. Then, we went back to her house and made no-sew quilts. They both came out cute and were very different. I made one big enough for Abner and I to share when we watch movies on the couch. He likes it too. :)

Wired

Today's Beautiful Thing is new options. I'm going to be able to do some work from home once in a while now. Not every day, but a few hours a month will be really helpful just the same. :)

Planning Ahead

Today's Beautiful Thing is making plans to enjoy the upcoming three day weekend to the fullest. I made a list of things I need to get done for work, bought play tickets for Valentine's Day, and firmed up the deets for a belated birthday celebration with my BFF for Saturday. Yeah!

A New Find

Today's Beautiful Thing is a new Persian restaurant. Our favorite little hole in the wall Persian restaurant closed a couple of years ago, but today we found another place that's just as good. Yay!

Chill

Today's Beautiful Thing is learning to calm down when things are out of my control. I was starting to stress out this afternoon, then I realized it wouldn't matter how early I got to work today, I'd still be behind. It's amazing what you can do to calm yourself if you learn to take a deep breath and a step back from the situation.

Anniversarys and New Beginnings

Today's Beautiful Thing is Michele's 4 year anniversary of being a breast cancer survivor, plus getting accepted to a college preogram this morning! Four years ago today was the scariest day for her family and friends, but today is such a hopeful day. Yay! (Pictured: Here we are on the third anniversary of her *surgery* 2/28/09.)

Chili & Cornbread

Today's Beautiful Thing is a pot of chili simmering on the stove and golden cornbread baking in the oven. The house smells like chili peppers, garlic, tomato & onions. Nom!

Tickled Pink

Today's Beautiful Thing is the pink leather jacket my hubby got me for Christmas. I'm not really a pink person, but the jacket (along with the soft pink scarf my mom bought me for Christmas) really brightens my spirits. How can I possibly be unhappy dressed in pink? :)

Rainy Outings

Today's Beautiful Thing is running around in the rain with the hubby after a long workweek. He loves the rain and I've learned to love it too. We always feel so carefree on nights like these.

Breakfast for Dinner

Today's Beautiful Thing is having eggs, sausage and waffles for dinner. Sometimes breakfast for dinner is so comforting.

Silver & Gold

Today's Beautiful Thing is finding old friends. First, M found me, and the two of us searched for S. It took a long time, but M finally found her today. And we talked on the phone tonight. Yay!

Why the picture of nails, you ask? Because S used to always have her nails done and I don't have a pic of S. I love these nails and I'm sure S would too.

Bonus Beautiful Thing: M is coming for a visit at the end of the month and S is going to try to come too. It will be so cool if it all works out!

I've Got the Power

Today's Beautiful Thing is electricity. Oh, how we take it for granted! The power went out tonight and we didn't know what to do with ourselves. Bubblebaths by candlelight are nice, but not much else is.
