25 Years Together

Today's Beautiful Thing is being together 25 years today. Where does the time go? I can't believe it.

Bonus Beautiful Things: Terry & Craig who introduced us on the evening of September 29, 1984. They are no longer together, but I wish them both every happiness in the world. Without the two of them, my honey and I may not have met.

Yesssss!!!

Today's Beautiful Thing is good news. My husband passed his final exam for his Masters Degree. The only thing left to do is the Capstone. I'm so proud of him. He graduates in June. Yay!

Writing Time

Today's Beautiful Thing is writing time. I wrote a little here and a little there, all day long. Writing wasn't quite gelling today, so it was great to actually have the entire day to start and stop and look for my groove. It ended up pretty good. I wrote over 10 pages. :)

Taking it Easy

Today's Beautiful Thing is a day of rest. I haven't been feeling well all day I'm glad it was Saturday so I could spend most of the day in bed. I feel better now, thank goodness.

Ladies Who Lunch

Today's Beautiful Thing is a celebratory lunch with Mom & Michele. Since cupcakes are an important part of our novel in progress, we celebrated 223 pages with lunch and red velvet cupcakes. We had a wonderful time.

New Grey's!

Today's Beautiful Thing is a brand new 2 hour Grey's Anatomy season-opener. Yeah! Can't wait. 12 minutes to go!

200 - Halfway!

Today's Beautiful Thing is 200 pages. Michele and I broke the 200 page mark this afternoon and tonight I'm adding another three pages. 203. We're halfway through our discovery draft and we're both so excited.

Quiet House

Today's Beautiful Thing is a couple of hours alone at home. Time to create and reflect. Time to just be.

Generosity

Today's Beautiful Thing is a generous coupon from a local family business. I'm a member of their e-mail club, so they sent us a coupon for two free meals for our anniversary. Not only were we allowed to use the coupon for any two meals with no price limit, but it was valid for over three weeks! Now that's generous and thoughtful. We will be eating there more often and recommending it to friends too.

Clean Sheets

Today's Beautiful Thing is fresh clean cotton sheets on the bed. I put them on this afternoon, and I'm all ready to climb in bed right now. One of the best feelings in the world. Good night all!

Storyteller

Today's Beautiful Thing is Aunt Lucy. She's here for her annual visit and she tells the best stories. Everyone joins in, embellishments and impersonations are added, and laughter is always the result. :)

The Zone

Today's Beautiful Thing is getting into the zone at work. I made up my mind that after constant interruptions and getting nothing done yesterday, today was going to be different. And it was. Three cheers for my iPod that helped me get into my zone and block out the world around me.

157 Pages

Today's Beautiful Thing is writing with a partner. Why didn't I try this sooner? Michele and I are up to 157 pages tonight. It feels so good! :)

Deep Freeze

Today's Beautiful Thing is a complete meal from the freezer. Seriously. I made a huge pan of lasagna and some bread dough way back in June and I froze them and forgot about them. Tuesday, I took them out to thaw, and yesterday and today, we enjoyed them for dinner. It actually tasted better after 3 months in the freezer. Who would have guessed?

True Love

Today's Beautiful Thing is true love. My heart aches for Lisa Niemi because she lost her husband, but I know that Patrick is up there in heaven waiting for her, and watching over her until they meet again some day.

Patrick Swayze

Today's Beautiful Thing is Patrick Swayze who died of pancreas cancer today. He is not only my favorite actor, but a good man and loving husband to Lisa Niemi. I was so very sad to learn of his passing. They had a longtime marriage like ours, and I feel so very sorry for Lisa tonight. R.I.P. Patrick and thank you for all the great things you did in this life for your wife, family and fans.

Perfecly Fitting

Today's Beautiful Thing is finding exactly what we've been looking for! These modular sofa pieces will work in two rooms for now, and one big room later.

Simpatico

Today's Beautiful Thing is brainstorming with Michele and having everything seem to fall into place. We both kept arriving at the same conclusions at the same time--which is cool since we are writing the manuscript together. :)

My Time

Today's Beautiful Thing is having the house all to myself for 2 whole hours. I did some writing and some relaxing. Nice!

Today's Beautiful Thing is President Obama. Thank you, sir, for finally taking stand for health care reform. Thank you also, for addressing the many lies and distortions the other side has been propagating. It's time someone did.

Catching Up

Today's Beautiful Thing is being (almost) all caught up at work the day after a holiday. I worked 2 extra hours today and by tomorrow, I should be back on track. Yeah! I finally have a handle on my (not-so-new anymore) position. :)

Pretties

Today's Beautiful Thing is a hubby who likes to take me clothes shopping. :) I bought two adorable skirts, two dresses, two short-sleeve sweaters, and two sleeveless shells. Everything mixes and matches with each other and with the clothes I bought a couple of weeks ago. My work wardrobe is getting a much-needed overhaul. Yeesss!

Float

Today's Beautiful Thing is a 7-UP, pineapple juice & rainbow sherbet float. It's been so hot here in So CA, and the float hit the spot tonight. Ahhh!

Puzzles

Today's Beautiful Thing is working on my manuscript. Michele and I are writing scenes from different characters' points of view and skipping around a little bit. It's been fun rereading various scenes and seeing what needs to be filled in--just like a puzzle. A writing puzzle. I like it!

Stepping Out

Today's Beautiful Thing is getting out of the office in the middle of the afternoon with one of my favorite coworkers. I got a yummy sandwich at my favorite place, and the nice lady punched my frequent buyer card 4 times instead of 1! That would be 3 Bonus Beautiful things today! :)

Grilling

Today's Beautiful THing is cooking dinner on the gas grill in the back yard, so I don't have to heat up the house. :)
