Today's Beautiful Thing is the simple pleasure of dinner out. I dragged myself home from work and I wasn't in the mood to cook tonight. The hubby read my mind and suggested El Pollo Loco. Yum. My tummy's all full of warm chicken burrito and a lovely garden salad and I don't have any dishes to do. In California, Mexican food is comfort food--even to an Irish/Italian girl. I am quite content.
In honor of Atticus, a beautiful Boxer boy whose time with us was much too short. This is my attempt to find something Beautiful in every single day. If a scarred and abused dog could fearlessly wag his tail and smile at strangers hoping to make friends, surely I can find one thing Beautifully noteworthy to write about daily in his honor. This is my tribute to his kind and gentle spirit. ~Celebrating three years of daily blogging on 1/20/10~

Tyson
Today's Beautiful Thing is this English Bulldog named Tyson. Here's his website. Click "enter" and then watch his short "Tyson in Action" video. I bet you can't watch it without laughing out loud. I've watched the video at least 10 times today and I giggle every time. I'm bookmarking it for when I'm feeling blue. This dog is amazing!

Neighborhood Nature
Today's Beautiful Thing was just outside our kitchen window. After my hubby watered the grass, there was a puddle and bunch of adorable sparrows came and took a bath in it. They were so cute. I hope if you click on the picture you'll be able to see them. One of them kept dunking his whole body and then flapping his wings and splashing. I just love those little guys.Saturday, January 27, 2007
Abner

Today's Beautiful Thing is my husband, Abner. Happy Birthday honey! I cannot imagine my life without this kind, just, sensitive, honest, fair and passionate man. He's my best friend and I will forever be grateful that the first man I ever dated is the last man I ever dated. I love you honey. Thanks for really getting the dog thing and thank you for making my life beautiful.

Connections

Today's Beautiful Thing is another co-worker, M. We have a very good working relationship. She works at a different site than I do, but we e-mail and talk on the phone daily and I feel close to her though I only see her maybe once a month.
She gave her resignation this week and her last day was today-- sooner than she'd originally planned. When I got in this morning, she'd left me a wonderful voicemail, telling me how much she enjoyed working with me and many other fine compliments. Though I am so sad to see her go, the message was kind and thoughtful (and yes, beautiful) and it made me really happy. Like L, who also left this week, I'd like to stay in touch with her and I hope I will be able to. The connections we make in life make life worth living.

Teamwork
Today's beautiful thing is teamwork. It's probably one of those "you had to be there moments" but my coworkers and I had the best time this morning dealing with a paper jam in our copier! This was one bad jam--the kind you call the repairman for--and I can fix almost any paper jam. Don't ever tell and office full of women they can't fix something. Armed with a letter opener, a screw driver, and a whole lot on ingenuity, we took the copier apart piece by piece and we did it. And we laughed about it the rest of the day. Kudos to D in particular!
